Daredevil: Born Again: ‘Kingpin’ Vincent D’Onofrio Reveals Charlie Cox’s Character ‘Still Bugs’ Him; Says, “You Can’t Put Us Together…”

Disney+’s Daredevil: Born Again premiered earlier today and fans of the Marvel comic are in for a treat. Featuring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin, Born Again is a revival and continuation of the Netflix show which ran from 2015 till 2018. Ahead of its premiere, the show’s team sat for an virtual press conference to hype the excitement around the show.

Aside from ‘Daredevil’ Charlie Cox and ‘Kingpin’ Vincent D’Onofrio, the virtual press conference also saw showrunner Dario Scardapane, lead directors Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, and executive producers Brad Winderbaum & Sana Amanat in attendance. Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio On Daredevil: Born Again

Talking about what fans can expect from the soon-to-release show, Cox said, “Matt has suffered a trauma. And that has meant that he’s had to kind of rethink and re-find his identity in a way that is probably more profound than we’ve seen before. He ends up going down a path which I think is best described as a Band-Aid that will have to be ripped off slowly and painfully.” He added, “For fans of the original show, it’s the same Matt Murdock, essentially, just, you know, influenced by his experiences.”

Talking about the kind of Daredevil-Kingpin dynamic we will see in Born Again, Vincent joked, “Well, he’s still bugs me.” Elaborating further, he continued, “Although, we’re trying to live in the daylight, the two of us – we’re broken men. If you can think about the metaphor of vampires trying to live in the daylight, it’s a struggle that they’re going through. He’s got his thing and I’ve got my plan and, you know, you can’t put us together in the same scene a lot ’cause it’s not as powerful if you do that.“
